Attached [numbered m.7] is the writ from Chancery dated Westminster, 22.7.1387 to the Sheriff of Essex, superseding the writ directing him to seize John Prittlewell's goods in the hundred of Rochester because the Countess had expressed herself satisfied of the debt in Chancery.

Writ of supersedeas omnino in regard to a Westminster, -writ ordering him not to omit by reason of the liberty of Rocheforde hundred to enter the liberty and by appraisement thereof in the owner's presence to deliver to Margaret Courtney countess of Devon or her attorney all the chattels of John Preterwelle of Essex, his oxen and plough horses excepted, to the value of 40?., in respect of a sum of 801. for which on 5 June 9 Richard II the said John and John Meysy of Cambridgeshire made a recognisance in chancery to the countess, and if his chattels suffice not, to give her delivery also of a moiety of his land until that sum be thereof levied, certifying his action in
    chancery in the octaves of Michaelmas next ; as the countess has acknowledged before William archbishop of Canterbury, by virtue of a writ of dedimus potestatem to the archbishop addressed which is on the chancery file for this year, that she is contented of the same.
